Investigation of difficult breedersCRIAgenesis can assist in
the diagnosis and treament of female alpacas and llamas that fail to conceive
in your herd. A thorough examination of the female reproductive tract
assisted by ultrasonography and vaginoscopy, in conjunction with
the previous breeding history will aid in diagnosis of those females
that are difficult to get pregnant.
Examination of the male reproductive tract, breeding ability and semen evaluation may be used to ascertain reasons for male subfertility or infertility. Pregnancy diagnosis and certificationIt is possible to detect the foetal hearbeat
using ultrasonography from 25 days of gestation in alpacas and llamas.
Certification of pregnancy is usually performed at about 60 days
of gestation due to an average 10 % early embryonic losses.
Breeders should note that up to 5 % of pregnancies may be lost between 60 days gestation and full term. Regular spit-offs throughout pregnancy should ensure early detection of any mid-term losses. CRIAgenesis is available to diagnose and certify pregnancy in your alpacas and llamas. |
